As part of its humanitarian interventions and to provide direct support to vulnerable and most needy groups, The Sudanese Red Crescent Society supported community kitchens and takaya as one of its most prominent transitional programs in providing ready-made meals and distributing them directly to families, thereby enhancing food security and community health and contributing significantly to community resilience.

The program was implemented in the states that received the most displaced persons, namely Khartoum, Northern, River Nile, White Nile, North Kordofan, and South Kordofan. More than 165,000 families benefited from the services of community kitchens and takayas through 98 kitchens and takayas, which were managed by 134 volunteers.
